Paraphrase of La Monte Young's 1960 #7 - Performance in Vestermark prison church (pipe organ) and sound installation (based on the same piece) in an isolation-cell.

In many years, the prison church was designed as a cell church, with closed cabinet chairs in which prisoners were isolated separately, unable to see or contact each other. The prison church was the first Danish prison church to abolish compulsory church attendance, nine years before the repeal took place in other Danish prison churches. In connection with the abolition of the mandatory church attendance, the church was rebuilt with traditional pews.

The prison church however, has also been seen as a space where you could get a spiritual break from everyday life as a prisoner . Furthermore, it is one of the only rooms in the prison, where there is no barred windows.
